Exercise intensity

Exercise intensity

When we perform an aerobic activity, such as walking or cycling, the intensity correlates with how hard the activity is for us to accomplish. Likewise the intensity is related to our breathing and heart rate, sweat same way as the way we feel our muscles.

There are two basic ways to measure intensity:

1. The way we feel, the perception of effort. This perception will be different from person to person for the same challenge, because we are all different and have different capacities;
2. Our heart rate. This variable provides us a more objective look at how intense is being our performance. Generally, the higher the heart rate more intense is the exercise.

However, studies show that our subjective perception of effort correlates well with our heart rate, so it is thought that if you are training at a high intensity probably your heart rate will also be high.

But nowadays there are a number of devices that help us to that level. The Personal Trainers Algarve sells Polar watches that are the reference in the cardio-frequency. So never be fooled.

Good training!
