Osteoarthritis, what is it?

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative disease that can affect all joints in the body,
causing wear and tear. It is a disease that has no cure, but there can be a great
improvement in symptoms by performing specific exercises.
Another measure that helps in the success of the treatment are day-to-day
modifications such as losing weight, avoiding exertion, wearing tennis shoes or
comfortable shoes rather than walking in flip-flops or barefoot. These simple changes
lessen the pressure on your knees, decreasing pain.

Recommended Physical Activity
Personal Trainers recommends that you take light walks, with appropriate
footwear, cycling, hydrogymnastics, among others, and it will depend a lot on the
severity of the injury presented.
It is very important to perform exercises to strengthen the quadriceps, as
they control the impact of the foot on the ground, reducing the degeneration of the
knee joint.

Exercises Not Advised
It is important that you avoid activities that involve running, jumping,
movements where there are large rotations, as they cause a great impact on the
knees, which can further increase the injury and increase the need for surgery.

Good training!
