Obesity and Physical Exercise

Currently, obesity and overweight are considered public health problems in most developed countries, with repercussions not only physical but also psychological, social and economic.

In terms of classification and using the Body Mass Index (BMI) an individual is considered obese if he has a BMI greater than 30 kg / m2.

We know that obesity is a major risk factor for other diseases such as type II diabetes, hypertension, arthropathy, heart disease, and is associated with low self-esteem and decreased working capacity.

It is clear to all that it is urgent to combat this epidemic.

And there are many programs for controlling and reducing weight.

A perfect program is one that allows a decrease in fat mass (fat) and maintenance or increase of lean mass (fat-free mass).

On this basis, any weight control program should:

- contemplate the performance of a diet with specific characteristics and adjusted to each individual

- include acceptable foods in terms of taste, cost and ease of purchase

- providing a negative calorie balance leading to gradual weight loss (maximum 1 kg / week)

- include an exercise program with strength training and cardiovascular training.

Consider taking precautions so that the new eating and exercise habits are maintained throughout life.  Want to know the best program for you?
